Lent begins tomorrow!

Come and join us at 6:30 pm tomorrow at St Mark’s, as we begin the Great Fast and a Holy Lent.  Imposition of Ashes and Mass will be the start of 40 day, when we can withdraw from the world and its lure and focus on God.

Consider a Lenten Discipline, either positive or negative, by giving up or adding something during the 40 days.  Maybe both would be a good start.  The thought of giving up TV and adding some beneficial reading appeals to me.

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

Thursday is Ascension Day!  Mass is at 10 am.  As Christ ascends into heaven, back home to His Father, we will extinguish the Pascal candle to commemorate that great departure and homecoming with low Mass.

Sunday is the 1st Sunday after the Ascension and Mass is at its regular time, 10 am.

We have just completed our recent fire inspection and completing the items we need to be in compliance with the code. 

We have welcomed Miss. Joanna Sitzmann as our new organist and she is learning the ins and outs of our organ.  I hope we can add in the service music soon, so that our worship can be enhanced. 

Last Sunday afternoon we had a wonderful Bruch at Mrs. Leila Delger’s home.  We then went to College of Marin to hear the Marin Oratorio’s presentation of some Handel’s other works.  The first part of the concert was filled with Praise to God and lots of alleluias.  The second part was about love between a wood nymph and a shepherd.  One of the highlights of the afternoon was the onstage, portable, pipe organ, which was played magnificently.
